We’re Max and Gus Griffin, two brothers living in Newcastle and studying at the Hunter School of the Performing Arts. We love to entertain and find music a powerful way to express ourselves.

Inspired by our amazing grandmother who still teaches music and performs in orchestras, we grew up totally immersed in music.

If you’d like to get to know us a bit more keep reading below for more deets.

What instruments do you play?

Guitar, cello, drums, bass and I rap. I’m really into Hip Hop and write my own songs.

What made you choose those instruments?

In the early years, my grandma and dad inspired me to learn the cello but as I got older I steered away from classical music and turned into a rocker. At the time I was mad inspired by Slash, Jimmy Page and Eddie van Halen.

What was your first instrument and how old were you when you first started playing?

I started learning the cello at 5 years of age.

Which musical artists inspire you?

Slash influenced me when I was younger, but nowadays the people who inspire me the most are musicians like Stevie Wonder, J Cole, John Butler, the Roots, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Nas, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix.

GUS

What instruments do you play?

I play the violin, mandolin, bass and the guitar.

What made you choose those instruments?

For violin, it was a combination of my grandma playing, my dad playing, and just the beautiful sound of it. Mandolin was a natural extension from violin, as it has the same strings, but were just doubled and had frets. Guitar was influenced by Max, as I wanted to be better than him. Bass guitar was also an extension from guitar, where I am now able to read bass clef, and do some sick basslines.

What was your first instrument and how old were you when you first started playing?

Violin was my first instrument, and I started properly learning at 4 years of age.

Which musical artists inspire you?

The biggest artists that inspire me have to be Vulfpeck, Rhythm Future Quartet, Scary Pockets and Itzhak Perlman.
